Education
Since Fauquier County has long offered an ideal environment for
raising children,
education has taken top priority for residents and county supervisors alike - and
the results of those efforts show. The County prides itself on a superior public school
system, comprised of 10 elementary schools, 5 middle schools and 2 high schools
and 1 alternative school for grades 6-12. The standards for excellence, in combination
with favorable student ratios - averaging 13.4 children per teacher - translates into impressive results, with over 80% of high school graduates furthering their education.
In addition to providing a comprehensive preparatory program, vocational and technical training is made available through the high schools. For those favoring an
independent education for their children, the County is home to 8 excellent private
schools. Several colleges and universities are also located in Fauquier County or in nearby jurisdictions.
